JUST SURF US – Privacy Policy

JUST SURF US ("the app") is a surf forecast app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what information the app uses and how. The short version: the app has no accounts, does not collect personal information, does not sell data and does not track you.

Information the app uses

Your location

If you allow it, the app uses your device's location to find the surf spot closest to you. Your location is used only on your device. It is not stored by us and is not sent to us or to anyone else. You can turn location access off at any time in your device's Settings; the app works without it.

Surf sessions on Apple Watch

When you record a surf session on Apple Watch, the app uses the watch's location (GPS) to map your session and count waves, and Apple Health (HealthKit) to record the workout and your heart rate. This information is stored on your Apple Watch and iPhone and, if you allow it, saved to Apple Health as a workout. It is not sent to us or to any third party, and HealthKit data is never used for advertising. You can delete a session in the app at any time, and manage Health permissions in the Health app.

Favorites and settings

Your favorite spots, the selected spot, board type and similar settings are stored only on your device.

Notifications

If you turn on Dawn Patrol alerts, the app schedules notifications on your device. No push token or personal information is sent to us.

Services the app connects to

To show forecasts and maps, the app connects to these services. Like any internet request, they receive your device's IP address as part of the connection. The app does not send them your location or any personal information.

• Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) – weather, wave and tide forecasts. The app requests forecasts for the coordinates of surf spots, not for your location.
• OpenStreetMap (openstreetmap.org) – map images on the map screens.
• Apple Maps / Google Maps – only when you tap "Directions" to open navigation to a spot.
• Sponsor content – the app may show a sponsor banner. To count how often a banner is shown or tapped, the app sends an anonymous event (the sponsor and whether it was shown or tapped). It does not include any information about you or your device.

What we do not do

• We do not require an account or ask for your name, email or phone number.
• We do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not sell or share personal information.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
